How MyCareerConnect works
A plain-English explanation of the matching engine, in five steps.
In short
MyCareerConnect reads your CV, searches live UK job listings across five major sources, filters out roles that are the wrong industry or seniority, ranks the rest by genuine fit using AI, and shows only strong matches (70%+) with a plain-English reason for each.
1. You upload or paste your CV
No account is required to try it. Your CV is read to extract skills, experience level, degree and relevant achievements.
2. We search live UK job listings
MyCareerConnect searches LinkedIn, Indeed, Reed, Adzuna and Bright Network — combined, these give access to well over a million live UK job postings. Searches are targeted using real job-title queries specific to your chosen industry, not generic keyword soup.
3. Every job is classified and gated
Each listing is classified by industry using its title (the highest-signal field) and description. Jobs from a clearly different industry, or clearly the wrong seniority for a graduate/internship seeker (e.g. "Senior" or "Director" roles), are filtered out before scoring even begins.
4. AI ranks what's left by genuine fit
The remaining roles are ranked using a two-stage process: semantic (embedding) similarity between your CV and each job, followed by an LLM judgement that reads your actual CV against each job description — the same way a human careers adviser would. Only strong matches (70% fit or higher) are shown by default, with a "show more" option for near-fits.
5. You get a ranked list with reasons
Each match shows a fit percentage and a specific, one-sentence reason referencing your actual CV — not generic filler. You can save jobs, track your application status, generate an AI-tailored cover letter, and set up alerts for new matches.
Privacy
Your CV is used only to match you to jobs and to generate your analysis and cover letters. It is never sold or shared with third parties.
